Carrowcullen as a Old Irish Farmhouse.

Carrowcullen was built in the 1880s by the grandfather of its last family member owner, Maureen Phillips.  It was purchased in December 2016 from Maureen Phillips by the current owner, after it had lain empty and increasingly derelict for over ten years. With the aim of trying to preserve all that could be conserved, it has been been meticulously restored by its owner, a heritage specialist. As a 1880’s traditional six-room two story farmhouse, it now offers a heritage self-catering experience for up to five guests.

From stepping over the threshold into the heart of the house — the kitchen with is Liscannor fossiled stone floor, the Stanley 8 stove and the original stone flint and limestone hearth of the kitchen — it offers a ‘step back in time.’ For those exploring their Irish roots, it offers as well a base to connect tangible with immediate heritage objects ‘at home’ and from hence to explore their own particular Irish ancestry in West Sligo and on the Wild Atlantic Way,
